Spring 2014 Academic Deadlines

UG = Undergraduate; GRAD = Graduate

Part of Term (POT) values indicate the time frame of the course. The Class Schedule shows what part of term each course is scheduled in to assist with identifying deadlines:

  • 1 = Full 16 week semester (approximately 1/21/2014 – 5/7/2014 plus finals)
  • A = First 8 weeks of the semester (approximately 1/21/2014 – 3/14/2014)
  • B = Second 8 weeks of the semester (approximately 3/17/2014 – 5/7/2014)

October 2013

  • October 21
    • Priority registration Time Tickets (Earliest Registration Times) for Spring 2014 available on Student Self-Service

November 2013

  • November 4
    • Priority registration begins for continuing students only
  • November 25
    • Registration begins for new students and continuing students not currently registered

January 2014

  • January 20
    • Deadline to cancel registration, which means drop ALL classes for the Spring semester for 100% refund of tuition and fees, if no campus services were used
    • Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday (All campus holiday)
  • January 21
    • First day of instruction for the Spring POT 1 and POT A courses
    • Deadline for degree-seeking students to register for first classes without being charged $15 late fee penalty
  • January 22
    • Late registration begins via Student Self-Service
  • January 24 – February 3
    • Registration of non-degree students without penalty
  • January 27
    • Deadline to add a UG POT A course
    • Deadline to add a GRAD POT A course via Student Self-Service
    • Deadline for all students to drop POT A course for refund if reducing assessment range
    • Deadline to suppress directory information

February 2014

  • February 3
    • Deadline to reduce POT 1 (full semester) program and receive refund if reducing assessment range
    • Deadline to add a UG POT 1 course
    • Deadline to add a GRAD POT 1 course via Student Self-Service and without approval
    • Deadline to add a GRAD POT A course via Department Office
  • February 14
    • Deadline to drop a UG POT A course via Student Self-Service without a grade of W
    • Deadline to drop a GRAD POT A course via Student Self-Service
    • Deadline to elect credit/no-credit or to change credit/no-credit to regular grade basis in a UG POT A course
    • Deadline to file intent to use the Campus Grade Replacement option in a UG POT A course
  • February 28
    • Deadline to drop a GRAD POT A course without a grade of W
    • Deadline for GRAD students to elect credit/no-credit option for a POT A course or to change from credit/no-credit option to a regular grade
    • Full payment due for Spring charges unless on a payment plan

March 2014

  • March 11, Noon
    • Faculty deadline for reporting mid-term grades for freshmen
  • March 14
    • Deadline to drop a UG POT 1 course via Student Self-Service without grade of W
    • Deadline to drop a GRAD POT 1 course via Student Self-Service
    • Deadline to remove UG Incomplete grade from previous semester to prevent change to an F grade
    • Deadline to elect credit/no-credit or to change credit/no-credit to regular grade basis in a UG POT 1 course
    • Deadline to file intent to use the Campus Grade Replacement option in a UG POT 1 course
    • Deadline for UG students to withdraw from Spring semester without grade of W
    • Deadline for LAW students to drop a semester course without grade of W
  • March 17
    • POT B courses begin (nontraditional courses may begin earlier or later)
    • Priority registration Time Tickets (earliest registration times) for Summer 2014 and Fall 2014 available on Student Self-Service
  • March 21
    • Deadline to add a UG POT B course
    • Deadline to add a GRAD POT B course via Student Self-Service
    • Deadline for all students to drop POT B course for refund if reducing assessment range
  • March 22 - 30
    • Spring Break

April 2014

  • April 4
    • Deadline to withdraw from the university and receive the minimum 40% pro-rata refund
  • April 7
    • Priority registration for Summer and Fall 2014 begins for continuing students only
  • April 11
    • Deadline to add GRAD POT B course via Department Office
  • April 18
    • Deadline to drop a UG POT B course via Student Self-Service without a grade of W
    • Deadline to drop a GRAD POT B course via Student Self-Service
    • Deadline to elect credit/no-credit or to change credit/no-credit to regular grade basis in a UG POT B course
    • Deadline to file intent to use the Campus Grade Replacement option in a UG POT B course
    • Deadline to drop a GRAD POT 1 course without grade of W.
    • Deadline for GRAD students to elect credit/no-credit option for a POT 1 course or to change from credit/no-credit option to a regular grade
    • Deadline for GRAD students to withdraw from the term without grade of W

    • Reading day (no classes, no final examinations)
    • Last day for GRAD to add/drop a POT B course without petitioning the Graduate College
    • Last day for GRAD to add/drop a POT 1 course without petitioning the Graduate College
